Our stated goal for ENGAGE 2012, which took place Friday, March 2nd through Sunday, March 4th, was both simple and profound: that the name of the Lord Jesus Christ would be lifted up, and that the hearts of those He has chosen would be moved to know Him better and to make Him known. I believe that happened and, although the days ahead will provide a more accurate assessment, I am convinced that ENGAGE 2012 was a "success.
Dr. Mark Struck brought us four outstanding messages on the responsibility, risk, and reward of mission engagement, as well as a challenge regarding the role God has for us to play. We are indebted to Mark and the ministry of Desiring God for their investment in the life of our church.
The mission reps the Lord sent us each blessed us in their own ways. They listened patiently to our questions and answered with wise discernment. Some traveled great distances (from as far away as Japan--bless you, Karyn) to share their lives and ministries with us. Contacts were made and relationships born for the sake of the Kingdom.
The uplifting musical ministries of Instituto Canzion and IMMV infused a breath of fresh life into our assembly and meshed perfectly with the messages that were shared. God aroused within us His presence as they led us in worship and praise.
ENGAGE 2012 was not a three-day event. It is a year-long commitment. And it is also a prelude for what the Lord plans to do within us and through us in the years ahead should Jesus delay His return.
As Mark challenged us in his closing address, next year's goal will be to add a "D" to our conference title: "ENGAGED 2013."
Now that would be "success".
